WELCOME IN THE SNOWPARK

STARTING ON THE RIGHT FOOT

For the 2007 season, the MSS SNOPRK is planning 45% of the mountain available to “Freestylers”.  There, you will find 3 parks (beginners, intermediate and expert) as well as a half-pipe and a contoured groomed run.

Many freestylers frequent the snow parks but few are familiar with the freestyling rules and regulations.  Here is some helpful information which will make your snow park visit
safe and enjoyable:

KNOW YOUR LIMITS

-At the beginning of each new season, take some time to familiarize yourself with your       surroundings as well as with any new equipment you may have acquired.
-Try all of last years’ manoeuvres on the runs, beginning with small corner jumps before attempting to do the trick on the actual jump ramp.
-It is important that you try jumps that will enable you to make progress while avoiding unnecessary injuries.
-Your first few runs should be warm-up runs.  This will allow you time to size-up jumps according to snow conditions as well as the landing.

Only You can decide which jump you are ready to tackle, the speed and trajectory you will use as well as the amount of risk involved.

HELMETS - MANDITORY AS OF 2007

The ASSQ (Association des Station de Ski du Quebec) has made a recommendation this year that all Ski Centers offering snow park activities require their users to wear helmets. All of the ski centers concerned agreed unanimously.
As of February 1st,2007, wearing a helmet will be mandatory in all Mont Avila MSS SNOPRK facilities.
Wearing a helmet has been known to prevent what could be a serious injury during a fall.  Therefore, we require that you wear a helmet at all times.

Be respectful and you will be respected!

MANDATORY PARK PASS

The “Park Pass” is mandatory for anyone wishing to use the expert MSS SNOPRK facility.  All users will be required to sign a document to have access to this facility.  Underage riders who wish to access the park will need a consent form signed by their parents or legal guardian.

NEW SIGNS

New signs will be posted in all Snow Parks across Québec in 2007.

NEW SIGNS

New signs will be posted in all Snow Park across Québec in 2007. An orange oval shaped sign on a black background will give the riders pertinent information on the size and regulations of each jump. The size of the jump will be clearly identified on these oval shaped signs as follows:

For Small jumps of 2m in size

For Medium jumps of 4m in size

For Large jumps of 6m in size

For Extra Large jumps of 6m or morePour les modules de très grande taille (plateau de +6m)

CALL YOUR TURN

When there is a line-up, calling your turn will avoid confusion and will facilitate the flow of riders on the jump ramps. In the international Freestyle Lingo “DROP-IN” signifies that you are ready to take off, while “DROPING NEXT” signifies that you are next in line to take off.

TAKE-OFF AND CHILL ZONES

This year at MSS SNOPRK you will notice zones reserved for Take-Off as well as rest areas called “Chill Zones”. Chill Zones will allow you some down-time before your next run while “Take-Off Zones” will allow you to go ahead down a run.   It is important that you respect each area, for your safety as well as the safety of others. It is absolutely forbidden to rest in a Take-Off Zone for safety reasons as well as to allow a steady flow of boarders down the runs.  Please avoid regrouping in a Take-Off zone.  Please regroup in a Chill zone.

A rider engaged in his decent has priority on any rider anywhere awaiting take-off.

TURNING – NOT SKIDDING

With the arrival of rails, some riders prefer to have their board edges fully rounded to avoid a breaking effect while riding the rails.

Did you know that sharpening your edges at an 80 degree angle rather than a 90 degree angle will allow you to ride rails without the breaking effect while still maintaining control of your board?

Each time you skid you are contributing to icy conditions.

YOU MUST NEVER SKID IN ANY OF THE LANDING ZONES.  IF YOU MUST SKID, PLEASE PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE RUN SO AS NOT TO DAMAGE THE LANDING SURFACES OR DO IT 5 TO 15 METERS FROM THE LANDING ZONES.

 MSS SNOPRK RANGERS

Safety as well as a pleasant boarding experience is a priority at the MSS SNOPRK.  Our Rangers will provide you with both.  Our Rangers will:

-Ensure the safety and quality of our facilities.
-Ensure that all riders respect the rules and regulations.
-Help you make progress.
-Listen to your comments and suggestions.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE MSS SNOPRK AN INNOVATIVE PLACE TO ENJOY SNOWBOARDING!

If at any time during the season you have questions or have any suggestions to make the MSS SNOPRK a better place to ride please do not hesitate to speak to one of our Park Rangers.
